How to receive a Vote-by-Mail ballot in Ocean County, New Jersey
As an active registered voter in Ocean County, you can receive a Vote-by-Mail ballot for any election without needing an excuse.
Here's how to apply:
1. Obtain an application
You can obtain an application online from the
New Jersey Division of Elections website, by calling the Ocean County Clerk's Office at (732) 929-2153 to request one be mailed, or by picking one up in person at their office at 118 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753.
2. Complete and return the application
Complete the application accurately. Mail applications must be received by the Ocean County Clerk at least 7 days before the election. You can apply in person at the County Clerk's Office until 3:00 PM the day before the election. Applications can be mailed to Ocean County Courthouse, Room 107, P.O. Box 2191, Toms River, NJ 08754-9913 or delivered in person to 118 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. Faxed or emailed applications are generally not accepted as an original signature is required, except for military and overseas voters.
3. Receive and return your ballot
After your application is processed, you will receive your ballot by mail. Mark your choices using blue or black ink and follow the instructions. You can return your ballot by mail (postmarked on or before Election Day and received by the County Board of Elections within six days), by placing it in a secure ballot drop box by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day (locations are on
VOTE.NJ.GOV), or by delivering it in person to the Ocean County Board of Elections office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. You cannot return your ballot at an early voting location or polling place.
